iOS App

Privacy Policy

Archivist is built around a simple principle: your professional memories are yours. The app is designed to work entirely on your device — no accounts, no tracking, and no data leaving your hands without your explicit choice.

App: Archivist Platform: iOS Last updated: April 28, 2026

📋 Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Archivist ("the app") handles your information. Archivist is developed by Arturo J. Real and is designed with privacy as a first principle: no data is collected, transmitted, or shared unless you explicitly choose to enable features that require it.

Short version: Archivist stores everything on your device. There are no servers. No analytics. We don't know who you are.

🗃️ Data We Collect

Archivist does not collect any personal information. All data you create — work stories, archive entries, memoir notes, and resume bullets — is stored locally on your device using iOS-native storage. This data never leaves your device through Archivist itself.

The following is not collected by Archivist:

  • Names, email addresses, or any account identifiers
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Usage analytics or behavioral data
  • Crash reports sent to third-party services
  • Location data
  • Contacts or calendar data

🧠 AI Processing

Archivist uses Apple Intelligence (Apple Foundation Models) to structure your work stories into archive entries, memoirs, and resume bullets. Apple Intelligence runs entirely on-device — your stories are processed locally and never sent to Apple's servers or any external service as part of this feature.

Optionally, you may connect your own API key for a third-party AI provider (such as OpenAI or Anthropic) to use an alternative model. If you choose to do this:

  • Your story content will be sent to that provider's servers to generate a response
  • That provider's own privacy policy and data practices apply to that data
  • Your API key is stored only in the device's secure local storage
  • This is entirely opt-in — the app works fully without any external API key

By default, all AI processing is on-device via Apple Intelligence. No story content leaves your device unless you configure an external API key.

🔒 Data Storage & Security

All content created in Archivist — entries, notes, and drafts — is stored in iOS local storage on your device, subject to iOS system-level protections including device passcode encryption.

Archivist does not operate any backend servers, databases, or cloud infrastructure. There is no account system, no login to protect, and no remote copy of your data that could be breached.

If you use iCloud Backup, your device data — including Archivist app data — may be included in that backup per Apple's iCloud policies. This is governed entirely by Apple and your iCloud settings, not by Archivist.

🔗 Third-Party Services

Archivist does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The app does not use services such as Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, or similar platforms.

The only third-party services that can interact with your data are AI providers you explicitly configure yourself (see AI Processing above). Archivist does not receive any data or compensation from those providers — API keys you enter are stored locally and used solely at your direction.

👤 Children's Privacy

Archivist is not directed at children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no data at all, there is no mechanism through which a child's information could be transmitted to us.

📝 Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes materially — for example, if a future version of the app introduces analytics, cloud sync, or accounts — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect the change.

Any such changes will be documented here and disclosed in the app's release notes. We will not introduce data collection features silently.
